Musical Background

Kevin's extensive background in music started at the young age of six. Encouraged by his brother, Kevin started taking guitar lessons and within two years was becoming a budding young songwriter.

Kevin Playing MandolinHe became involved in performing as a folk singer and played on open-stages and coffee houses in the London, Ontario area.

Through his teens, he formed several rock bands and took on positions as lead vocalist, guitar and/or bass guitar player. Although this proved to be entertaining, he always fell back to his roots as a folk singer for paying gigs.

Kevin started recording his original music in a home studio by the age of thirteen, and grew to love the artistic and technological aspects of producing music. Through this time, he started to learn other instruments which aided him greatly in the production of his songs.

His studio experience continued to help him hone his skills in music production and as an instrumentalist and vocalist on literally hundreds of album projects.

Kevin's first album of original music was a collaboration between himself and singer/songwriter, musician Doug Dolphin. The album was entitled 'For Your Listening Pleasure' and featured spacey/folky sounds similar to the types of music he loved to listen to such as; the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Chris DeBurgh, etc.

After years of focusing on producing music for other songwriters and bands, Kevin decided to produce another album of his songs with a truly folk flavour. Although he owned a large recording studio by this time, he decided to go into his home studio and produce an album that was basic with acoustic guitars, pleasant harmonies and no drums. This album is still one that he sells when performing live and is entitled 'Back to My Roots'.

Kevin has performed his folk music in clubs, outdoor stages, theatre venues and in churches across Ontario. His move to the Haliburton-Bancroft area was sparked by a sixteen week gig performing at the Pinestone Resort in Haliburton.

After moving to the area, Kevin became involved in an old-time gospel band 'Joyful Noise', which performed at churches and long-term care facilities throughout the area. In this group, he took a step back from being 'front-man' and played piano, mandolin, harmonica, slide guitar and harmony vocals.

Other than the few commercial projects Kevin is involved with, his music has become a hobby for him and he continues to play in his home studio and performs on stage for local events in Bancroft and with a local band, Generations.
